COLCHESTER Rugby Club bosses say they are under “no obligation” to move home to the other side of the A12.

Colchester Council yesterday secured £5.5 million which will fund the Mill Road club's move to a new site, north of the A12.

But in a statement, its executive committee said: “Please be assured CRFC is standing firm on ensuring that our core requirements are attained and are under no obligation to relocate should these requirements not be met.

“As of today, we do not have an offer on the table that is acceptable to your exec committee with a key concern being the extent of the parking spaces being proposed.

“Many questions have been asked of Colchester Borough Council over the past months and some remain unanswered.

“We are hopeful that the council and their design team will provide answers to our queries, which includes a suitable parking solution, soon.”

The statment added: "As your executive committee, our view is that this is a once in a lifetime opportunity with the potential for CRFC to have an exceptional new facility as our home for years to come. There are still a lot of bridges to cross though."
