A BOY with severe additional needs will be starting at his dream school in September.

Jack Bateman was diagnosed with cerebral palsy when he was three, and autism and ADD when he was six.

He attends Broomgrove Junior School, but his mum Kelly said he wants to go to Market Field School in Elmstead Market.

Mrs Bateman said her son, eight, from Wivenhoe, only attends school three days a week because his needs simply cannot be met there.

She was told by Essex County Council that Market Field is full, so he cannot move, and the case was due to go to tribunal last week.

However Mrs Bateman, of Parkwood Avenue, said the tribunal was cancelled at Market Field School offered her son a place for September, which she accepted.

She said: "He is also going to be getting additional support at his current school until he moves to Market Field.

"We are pleased, although it is a bit of a long wait, but we have done all we can do.

"Going to court was not worth it for the sake of a few months."

She said her son hates being different, and struggles to sleep when he knows he has to go to school the next morning.

He is still struggling to attend school regularly.

His mum said: "He is still very anxious, he should not be where he is but the school is doing their best to meet his needs and we are just taking it day by day.

"Hopefully he won't be the only new person starting and it will work out for the better."
