Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere made one lucky Colchester schoolboy's dreams come true on Wednesday night, by giving his shirt away after a match against Chelsea.

Seven-year-old George Craig, of Roberts Road, Colchester, was at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night as the Gunners beat Chelsea 2-1 to advance to the final of the Carabao Cup.

After the game, George held up a sign that he had made, which read "Can I have your shirt please Jack?".

The 26-year-old midfielder, who is among the candidates for a place in England's World Cup squad this summer, walked over to the crowd at the end of the game and handed his shirt to George, who was sat on dad Jordan's shoulders.

His dad said: "George has been to a few games now, we don't go all the time but he's a massive Arsenal fan.

"Jack must have read the sign from a distance and decided to give Jack his shirt, because he was already taking it off when he came over."

George, who is a pupil at St George's School in Colchester, was understandably delighted.

His dad said: "When we were coming out of the ground after the game, him and his friends were all really excited.

"He was a bit awestruck really, he couldn't believe it."

George decided to make the sign after seeing a similar one work for a fan of Eden Hazard in Chelsea's win over Brighton last weekend.

George's dad said: "We saw on Sky Sports News that Hazard had given his shirt to a fan who asked for it with a sign.

"George asked if he could make a sign to take to the Arsenal game so him and his mum made it together."

His dad didn't rule out trying again in the future, either.

He said: "We also have a younger son who hasn't been to an Arsenal game yet.

"When he goes we might make a sign for him to take too.

"All of George's friends have said they'll make signs now as well, to take to along to games with them."
