A DRUG dealer sold a dangerous batch of a former legal high to a group of teenagers including one who was pregnant and another who reacted so badly she had to be put into an induced coma, a court heard.

Shaun Wilson is alleged to have handed £7 worth of MDMB, better known as spice, to a group of four friends after meeting them at a roundabout between Hawkins Road and Colne Causeway at the Hythe.

But shortly after three of them shared a joint of the synthetic cannabis, two of them fell badly ill and had to be rushed to Colchester General Hospital.

Ipswich Crown Court heard how a girl who was 16 years old and 20 weeks pregnant at the time of the incident had arranged to buy the spice from Wilson but began vomiting shortly after taking it, while her 15-year-old friend had to be taken to intensive care.

Matthew Morgan, prosecuting said the group started to feel ill shortly after taking a few drags on the joint.

He said: “The 16-year-old started shaking and being sick on the floor.

“The 15-year-old was initially laughing but then became spaced out and went into fits and then lost conciousness.

“Another of the group ran of help and found two ladies who called the ambulance service who arrived 20 minutes later.

“The 15-year-old was seizing and had lost conciousness completely. The 16-year-old was unresponsive.

“The girls were taken to Colchester General Hospital where the 15-year-old continued to have seizures and was taken to intensive care.

“Fortunately, they have since made a full recovery.”

After the incident in September 2016, police ran checks on the 16-year-olds phone and found messages arranging to meet a man called Shaun to buy drugs.

They linked the phone number to a Facebook account belonging to Wilson, of Berberis Walk, Colchester.

At a video identification parade, two of the youngsters identified Wilson and two picked out other men as the dealer.

Giving evidence, the 16-year-old said she had previously arranged to buy drugs from the same man and had wanted spice because it was stronger than marijuana.

Wilson, 41, denies supplying a psychoactive substance.

Michael Edmonds, defending, said the man they got their drugs from was not Wilson.
