CHILDREN were keen to grab their lab coats and join in with some crazy experiments to celebrate all things science.
Iceni Academy in Colchester hosted a science day, which invited children to take part in a number of experiments, which they then demonstrated to parents who came in for the afternoon.
Rory Bullivant, a teacher at the school who led the science day, said it was an opportunity for the children to get hands-on experience.
He said: “The teaching of science at Iceni Academy aims to develop a child’s curiosity, interest and concern with the outside world.
“Through our engaging approach to teaching science we aim to enable children to have a greater understanding of our world through practical, enriching activities and observations.
“To celebrate this child-led approach to teaching, we planned a whole school science day which involved pupils enjoying a range of practical scientific investigations.
“Throughout the morning the pupils, dressed in the school’s new lab coats, planned and conducted a range of engaging experiments.”
The experiments included making slime and lava lamps.
Mr Bullivant said the pupils loved making a mess with the explosions and enjoyed the fun approach to learning about science.
He added they were excited to show their parents their hard work.
