A RED faced lorry driver was forced into an emergency reversal after realising his truck was too tall to fit under a bridge.
Bleary eyed commuters could hardly believe what they were seeing when the driver of the high-sided Egbert Taylor vehicle stopped just short of the overpass at Colchester’s North Station.
Initially, it was feared the vehicle had collided with the structure, but the driver managed to stop shy of a crash as he realised he would not be able to make it through safely.
Traffic in the surrounding streets and roads was held up while the driver reversed out from underneath the bridge.
Essex Police were called to the incident to help with the rescue operation.
