A BURGLAR has admitted stealing jewellery, cash and a car.

Craig Lock was arrested following an investigation into a burglary in Fordham and a theft of a car in Dovercourt in November.

The house in Lucas Avenue was raided while the occupier was at home with watches, cameras, cufflinks and bottles full of loose change taken.

Officers forensically examined the scene and found Lock’s fingerprints.

The 29-year-old, of no fixed address, was found by police in Main Road, Dovercourt, and he was arrested on suspicion of burglary and for stealing a car from Princes Road where he drove it off while the victim was loading it up with goods.

When he appeared at Colchester Magistrates’ Court, Lock admitted burglary, theft of a motor vehicle, driving while disqualified and driving without insurance.

He was remanded in custody and is due to be sentenced at Chelmsford Crown Court on February 2.

Investigating officer Det Con Mike Heslegrave said his team were determined to find burglars who make people’s lives a misery.

He said: “The team have put in a lot of work to locate Lock, who has no known address and bring him a court.

“The evidence against him was so compelling that he was arrested, charged and remanded to appear in court the following day where he admitted all offences.

“This case just shows that if you enter someone’s home and take their possessions it is only a matter of time before we find you and bring you to court.”
