Bob Russell's New Year's Day walk
Colchester High Steward Sir Bob Russell joined forces with promoters of the Roman Chariot Circus for his annual New Year’s Day Walk.
His tenth New Year’s Day walk used a brand new route, which concentrated on Colchester’s rich Roman heritage. A total of 32 people took part.
He titled the circular tour Roam Around Roman Colchester.
The two-hour jaunt started outside Roman Circus House, and covered the entire Roman Circus, Roman Wall, Castle Park and the High Street.
Volunteers at Roman Circus House provided walkers with refreshments. Sir Bob asked those taking part to make a donation of £5 in support of Colchester Foodbank of which he is joint patron.
