A folk band will help get you in the festive spirit this weekend as they offer their own unique take on some classic Christmas hits.

As part of its tour this Christmas, A Winter Union will be performing live during a concert at St John Baptist Church in Finchingfield.

The band, who first came together to perform a one-off yuletide concert back in 2015, have grown in strength in recent years and are showing off their own unique style during their winter tour.

Those going to the concert at Finchingfield can expect to enjoy a mixture of traditional carols, along with a smattering of seasonal classics from both sides of the Atlantic.

Brand new original songs that have a seasonal twist will also be performed throughout the evening, as this unique band demonstrate that Christmas songs can be performed in a variety of ways.

After debuting in 2015, A Winter Union has gone onto perform at a number of prestigious places including including London’s Cecil Sharp House.

The band have also performed during a live session on BBC Radio three.

Following a successful 2016, the group have come together again and have also had a change in their line up with BBC Folk Award nominees Katriona Gilmore & Jamie Roberts coming into replace members of Megson.

Jade Rhiannon, Hannah Sanders and Ben Savage will continue in their previous roles and be sharing the vocals around whilst also playing the guitar and other string instruments such as the Dulcimer.

As part of their 2017 tour, A Winter Union are also releasing a charity single ahead of Christmas called The King.

The new track officially came out last Friday and profits raised from it will be going towards UK charity Missing People.
