A MAN has been arrested after a woman was assaulted when a row broke out in Clacton town centre.

Police say people in two cars got involved in an argument in Rosemary Road just after 4pm last Wednesday.

A woman in her 40s, who was a passenger in one of the vehicles, was then assaulted.

A 40-year-old man from Clacton has been arrested on suspicion of assault and was released on bail until December 28.

Investigating officer Det Con Darren Buckingham said: “This incident took place at a busy time of day near the covered market when there would have been plenty of people around.

“I’m keen to hear from anyone who was in the area and saw something to help us find out what happened.”

Anyone with information should contact Det Con Buckingham at Clacton police on 101.
