A section of the main road between Halstead and Colchester has been closed this afternoon after a crash which left a man in his 20s needed to be cut free from his car.
The man was cut free from his vehicle by the fire service after the crash, which took place on Colchester Road, the A1124, in Wakes Colne.
Firefighters from Colchester and Halstead arrived at 2.57pm this afternoon and had released the casualty by 3.20pm.
The person was left in the care of the ambulance service.
A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust confirmed they were called to the scene at 2.46pm.
The spokesman continued: "A rapid response vehicle, ambulance crew, ambulance officer and air ambulance from Essex and Herts Air Ambulance were dispatched.
"They treated a man, believed to be in his 20s, who was trapped.
"He was taken to land ambulance to Colchester General Hospital for further care.
"His condition is not believed to be life-threatening."
The road remains closed at Colchester Road's junction with Wakes Colne Place.
Delays are expected in the area.
Some buses are being diverted.
