A COUNCIL has said a broken pavement will be fixed after a pregnant woman tripped over one of the slabs.
Lucy Bone, who nearly seven months pregnant, tripped over in the St Botolph’s underpass as one of the steps was crumbled.
A number of other residents have complained about the underpass, saying it was a hazard and could cause serious injury.
Councillor Lee Scordis (Lab) contacted Essex County Council, and the customer services team said a job has been raised for repair works to take place.
An email to Mr Scordis said once the special slabs have arrived work to repair the pavement should start in the new year.
Mr Scordis said: “It’s great to see that pressure from residents and I has finally paid off.
“However some residents have been complaining and warning of this hazard for four years and in the meantime we have seen people have accidents due to the hazardous nature of the steps.
“This clearly should have been resolved much sooner.”
