CONMAN tricked their way into the homes of two elderly women and threatened to urinate on one's hallway.

Police have launched an appeal to find the men who preyed on the vulnerable pensioners.

In the first incident an 85-year-old let a man into her home in Meredith Road, Clacton, after he claimed to work for Essex Cares.

The trickster claimed to be checking if the woman and her husband were warm enough.

When the resident asked for proof of identification, he said it was in his vehicle.

The woman became suspicious and asked the man to leave.

The fake call happened on Saturday November 11 but police have just released information in a bid to get the public's help.

On the same day, a man knocked at an address in Wellesley Road, Clacton, at around 5.15pm.

An 86-year-old woman, opened the door and the man pushed past her, claiming he needed to use the toilet.

She asked him to leave but he threatened to urinate in the hallway so the pensioner showed the man where the toilet was.

She followed him upstairs and found him in her bedroom with her handbag.

She then told him to leave and took the bag but it is believed the man had already £10.

Investigating officer Det Con Luke Howard appealed for any information from the public which might track down the man.

He said: “It is possible the same man was involved in both incidents and I am keen to speak to anyone who saw him in the area at the time, or knows who he is.”

The conman is described as white, aged in his late 20s to 40s, between 5ft 3ins and 5ft 6ins tall, and of slim to medium build.

He had brown or black hair and wore a jacket Anyone with information is asked to contact Det Con Howard at Clacton CID on 101 quoting reference number 42/160337/17.
