FEARLESS fundraisers will reach new heights when they take part in a 40ft abseil in support of a charity for young adults with life-limiting conditions.

Nic Dines, 36, and Helen Daw, 29, are part of the retail team at the White Stuff clothes shop in High Street, Colchester, who have chosen to take part in the dizzy challenge.

The abseil will form part of the store’s year of fundraising activities for The J’s Hospice charity, which supports families across Colchester and the rest of Essex.

Nic, from Colchester, and Helen, from Frinton, said: “We love to raise money for charity and The J’s Hospice is such a wonderful cause.

“We have never done anything like this before and we hope to raise as much money and awareness as we can.”

So far the team has raised £2,500 through donations from generous customers.

The J’s Hospice charity improves the lives of young adults aged 16 to 40 with life limiting and life threatening conditions and their families.

Funds will help to pay for tailored specialist nursing, respite care, advice and emotional care in the comfort of the parents’ own homes, as well as end of life care and bereavement support.

Zoe Butler, The J’s Hospice community fundraiser, said: “The team at White Stuff are fantastic to work with.

“They are extremely supportive and passionate about us, having raised a great deal of money to support our care services as well as volunteering at our events.

“The J’s Hospice can only exist because of the kindness of people like the White Stuff team.”

The J’s Hospice Christmas abseil will take place on Sunday, December 3, and Monday, December 4, from 10am to 3pm at Essex County Hall in Chelmsford.

The event is open to adults and children aged eight and over with festive fancy dress encouraged.

Tickets cost £15 per adult with a minimum sponsorship of £85 and £15 per child with a minimum sponsorship of £30.
