A NEW BUDGET supermarket is working hard to tackle anti-social behaviour in its car park.

Customers at the Lidl store, off Kings Street, Halstead, have raised concerns about problems arising outside the shop where cyclists have been performing stunts on their bikes.

Reports from some shoppers suggest yobs have also been climbing onto the roof of trolley shelters and even attempted to set off fireworks from within the car park.

A spokesman for Lidl said the store has increased its security measures after listening to feedback from its customers.

The spokesman said: “The safety and security of both our customers and colleagues is of the upmost importance to us. As such, we have security in place at all Lidl stores.

“Following recent feedback from the community and our store team, several measures have been taken to further increase security around the store, including adjusted external lighting in the evening and the installation of a bollard, helping to prevent access to the car park outside of trading hours.

“We’d also encourage customers who have any concerns, in or around our stores, to flag these to our store management team who will be able to assist.”

The store opened in September.
