FREE parking will once again be offered to shoppers over the Christmas period.
Parking charges will be waived in all council-owned town centre car parks from 3pm on the four Wednesdays leading up to Christmas, starting from November 29.
Many of Colchester’s stores are opening until 9pm on these nights.
Car park payment machines will be covered.
With Lion Walk Shopping Centre switching on its Christmas lights on November 29, the town centre will feel festive.
Colchester Castle is also offering free entry from 3pm to 8.30pm on Wednesday, December 13.
There will be carols, mince pies and entertainment.
Mike Lilley, councillor responsible for public safety and licensing, said: “Colchester town centre offers shoppers a unique mix of independent and big name retailers to suit every taste and any pocket.
“With the added bonus of free parking for late night shopping in our award winning car parks, your Christmas shopping can be all wrapped up for family and friends.”
