A GAGGLE of generous friends joined together to raise more than £1,300 for a breast cancer charity.

Marion Pinckney and eight of her pals trekked from Clacton Pier to Walton Pier as part of the Big Pink Walk for Breast Cancer Care.

Mrs Pinckney, 65, who live at Great Bentley Country Park, said: “I think the walkers and their sponsors did an amazing job.

“We have all known somebody who has suffered from breast cancer or somebody who has lost a love one because of it.

“Everybody was sponsoring us, work friends, husbands and wives - they were so generous.”

Mrs Pinckney and her pals set off for the seven mile journey complete with pink fancy dress costumes.

She added: “I want to thank all the people that have donated the money. We’re already getting set for next year.”

They raised a total of £1,365.
