SOUTH and north Essex’s music fraternity will meet this weekend, when musicians from all over the county get together to put on the Cosmic Puffindoors Alldayer.

The event - which is a spin-off of the usual Cosmic Puffin outdoor festival held annually on Mersea Island - was put on because there isn’t a festival planned for next year.

There will be 12 hours of music across two stages, from some of the best acts who have played over ten years of Cosmic Puffin, “plus a couple you may never had heard of” promises one of the organisers.

One of these will be Southend’s Chris Davison, award-winning singer-songwriter and bassist in folk-punk outfit, Deferred Sucess, with fellow local acts Kristina Stazaker; Angel and the Melodyhorns; Doozer McDooze and Ren Stedman.

Flying the music flag for the north of the county will be Ghosts of Men, Pet Needs, Rad Pitt and Philip Marino, while other acts playing include Leslie George Carter (ex Carter USM); Hot Tramp; The Devil’s Prefects; The Thinking Men and The Sweetchunks Band.

The Cosmic Puffindoors Alldayer will be taking place at the Three Wise Monkey’s in High Street, Colchester, on Saturday, from noon.

Tickets are £12 online at musicglue.com/cosmic-puffindoors or £15 on the door with all profits raised going to Bliss, a children’s charity which has been previously supported by the annual Cosmic Puffin Festival, which has been running since 2008.
