A WEEK in Tenerife and a wedding at the Town Hall are up for grabs at a special charity auction.

Reeman Dansie is hosting an auction in aid of Colchester Mayor Gerard Oxford's chosen charities.

Seven once-in-a-lifetime prizes will be going under the hammer at a charity party and Marc Winter, from Reeman Dansie, said they were very exciting.

He said: "Reeman is a name a lot of people know and we always try to support the local community.

"When the mayor asked us we said we would be very pleased to help, they are all fantastic causes and all the charities have brought forward things to be sold."

Some of the items are antiques which can be sold at a regular auction, but some prizes are being sold at a separate charity event on November 17.

They include accommodation for one week in Castle Harbour, Tenerife, a complimentary wedding ceremony at the Town Hall, free venue hire for one evening at Colchester Rugby Club, an executive box for 10 for a 1st Team home game for Colchester United, two club enclosure tickets at Cheltenham Race Course, and a cookery demonstration for four people at Milsom hotel and restaurant.

Mr Winter said: "This isn't a commercial venture, all bids are without reserves and we want to raise money for the mayor's charities."

A drinks party will take place alongside this special auction, and the regular antique auction will continue on November 20 and 21.

Tickets for the special auction are £10, but absentee bids are also encouraged.

Mayor Gerard Oxford said: "We are extremely grateful for their kind offer, they have kindly donated the hammer prices to the chosen charities and ticket sales for the special auction will also go towards the charities.

"They have been hugely supportive."

Absentee bids will be accepted until 4pm on the day of the auction.
