Children giggled with delight as they were given the opportunity to cuddle guinea pigs, ferrets, chickens and ducks.
The petting session took place on Sunday in The Nurture Barn at The Blue Egg in Braintree Road.
Owner Mel Sims said: “The day went really well, it was a lovely session and I think we had about 40 people come along, many of whom had never been before.
“There were lots of tiny baby bunnies for the children to hold.
“We don’t normally open on Sundays, but we did a one off and had lots of smiling families.”
The barn caters for babies, toddlers and pre-school children with the next session set for November 20 between 10am and 1.30pm.
