Tributes have been paid to a father-of-two who died in a crash which also claimed the life of his wife.

Police were called to a collision involving a Honda motorcycle, Mercedes Sprinter van and Ford Transit in Ashes Road just before 1pm on August 14.

Gary Vincent, 51, and from Braintree, died several months on from the incident on October 5.

His wife Joanne, 47, tragically passed away at the scene after the incident.

Paying tribute to the much-loved motorcycling enthusiast, his family said in a joint statement: “In loving memory of Gary Vincent; a beloved brother, husband and father of two.

“He loved his dogs and family above all else, and always put their needs above his own.

“He had a passion for his motorcycle, computing and gaming.

“He was so laid back, friendly and was always there if you wanted a chat, whatever hour of the day or night.

“We would like to take the opportunity to, once again, thank the members of the public who were at the scene of the accident, all emergency services, and all hospital staff at both Addenbrookes and Broomfield for their continued efforts over the past two months.

“Despite their best efforts, dad was unable to recover from his injuries and passed away, surrounded by his family on October 5.

“Just like mum, dad was tragically taken from us too soon, was dearly loved and will be sorely missed by us all, but at least we can take comfort knowing they are together again.”

Essex Police are still investigating the cause of the collision and a 70-year-old man remains under investigation on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
