A MUM has spoken of her shock after her ten-year-old son was lured under Clacton Pier before allegedly being stoned by a group of children.

Leon Day Bustin, from Page Road, Clacton, was attacked by a group of five youngsters on Saturday, it is claimed.

His mother, Rachel Amanda Day, said he was lured under the popular pier, where he was eventually assaulted, at about 1.30pm.

She said the attack followed an alleged incident near his home, in Page Road, Clacton, in which Leon was bitten by a dog - believed to be a rottweiler - on October 9 at about 4.30pm.

Leon, a pupil at Clacton’s Whitehall Academy, was bitten below his armpit and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Mum Mrs Day said: “He is very shocked and upset and he is covered in bruises.

“He also still has the bite mark under his armpit.

“He went back to school on Monday because he has already had a week off after he was bitten by the dog.

“Leon was taken under the pier and they held him down and punched him with rocks in their hands.

“They threw rocks at him, kicked him and prevented him from escaping.

“They also attempted to hit him in the head.”

She added: “They took his phone when he said he was ringing me.

“He said to them he was ringing the police and they ran.

“A passer-by took him to Atlantis café along the front, where police were called.

“I ran to collect him and they brought us home.”

Mrs Day reported the incident to the police but officers are yet to take a statement.

She added: “I have told the police about the dog, but they still haven’t come out – I’ve just been given a crime reference number.

“It’s been over a week and I’m still waiting for somebody to come to visit my child. I’ve contact the RSPCA and the dog warden.

“Nobody seems concerned or has been to take a statement – I’m disgusted.”

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "We are investigating reports that rocks were thrown at a 10-year-old boy, during an incident in Clacton on Saturday.

"The victim was near Pier Gap, Clacton pavilion, at around 2pm, when he was struck by the rocks. He reported that these were thrown by a number of boys.

"He was able to call the police from a nearby shop. Enquiries are ongoing."

The spokesman added that officers are also investigating reports that a 10-year-old boy was bitten by a dog at an address in Page Road.

He said: "The dog was described as a Rottweiler, and the boy suffered a puncture wound and bruising. Enquiries are ongoing."

Anyone with information about the incidents is asked to contact PC Kimberley Hutchins, at Clacton Police on 101.
