SELFLESS school pupils donated hundreds of items to a foodbank to help their community.
Youngsters at Maldon Court Preparatory School collected the items at its annual harvest festival celebrations last week.
This year they decided to collect items for the Maldon Food Pantry.
They also worked in conjunction with the café at St Peter’s Hospital in Spital Road to help families in the town.
Maldon mayor Jeanette Stilts attended the harvest festival service at All Saints Church and also took part in the special assembly held back at the school in Silver Street.
On Wednesday the pupils took a trip on the school minibus to present their donations to the food pan- try and St Peter’s Café.
A spokesman for the school said: “We would like to thank all our parents for sending is so many fantastic gifts and donations.
“Maldon Court Preparatory School went in the school minibus and took their wonderful school community donations to the Maldon Food Pantry and to St Peters Café in support of some families and elderly regular visitors to the café.
“The gifts were greatly received by the volunteers at the food pantry and Julie Taylor who runs the café at St Peters.
“We have been overwhelmed by the generosity of the school community a truly community spirited week for Maldon Court.”
The food pantry is based at Maldon Elim Pentecostal Church, in Wantz Road.
Anyone in need of a food parcel can attend the church on Wednesday mornings.
