A SORTING office is to relocate to Colchester.

Elmstead Market delivery office, which currently operates inside of the closed Post Office branch, will relocate to Colchester next week Monday.

The Royal Mail says the move will have no impact on customers and the existing two staff members will also move.

A spokesperson said: “When the move goes ahead, there will be no impact on deliveries to our customers.

“The two postmen who work in Elmstead will continue to serve the community, delivering a high quality service to our customers.

“Following the office relocation, any undeliverable mail will be available for customers to collect from the customer service point in Colchester delivery office if they were not at home when we attempted delivery, and we could not leave the item with a neighbour.

“This includes all post except Special Delivery items and inbound international items which require a signature.

“This office is also open significantly longer than the Post Office opening hours.”

Customers will be able to collect their post from the Colchester delivery office at Moorside which is open from 7am until 6.30pm.
