DETECTIVES have arrested a man on suspicion of carrying out a spate of raids across Colchester.
The 23-year-old was detained by police in Purcell Close, off Avon Way, this morning.
He remains in custody for questioning.
The offences relate to a number of burglaries, including two in which the victims were tied up while their homes were raided.
An Essex Police spokesman said: "A man has been arrested following a spate of burglaries in Colchester between March and August this year.
"The 23-year-old from Colchester was arrested this morning on suspicion of burglary offences including aggravated burglaries."
Neighbours say more than six police cars arrived outside the three-storey home from early this morning.
At its height, there were nine police cars, including two forensic vans are at the scene and officers appeared to enter the property as a group at about 1.15pm.
