FAMILIES aren’t leaving a stone unturned or unpainted in Burnham with a new national craze that has taken the town by storm.

Mum Mandi Tinley, of Glebe Way, launched a Facebook page called Love On The Rocks in Burnham-on-Crouch earlier this month to encourage people to get involved.

The idea is to pick up stones or rocks, paint pretty designs on them and then hide them for others to find.

Once found, pictures are posted on the page – some stones are kept but others are re-hidden either in the town or further afield.

Mandi, a balloon artist, who is a full time mum to her three children and two step children, said: “Love on the rocks is a game which I first heard about just a few weeks ago.

“People have been painting or drawing on rocks and hiding them all over the country for others to find.

“I thought it sounded like fun for the kids, a chance for them to be crea- tive and to get them outside as well.”

The Facebook group now has 150 members.

Mandi, 29, added: “There’s a bigger group which covers the whole country which is great but I thought it would be nice for a smaller community group to keep track of our rocks easily after seeing a lot of posts on another Burnham based group.

“My children have been decorating and hiding stones around the town. We have hidden around 100 stones now.

“Most have been found but some are still in their original hiding places.

“I think so many people are joining in because it is fun, it’s getting people outside, walking and enjoying the area we live in.

"It doesn’t cost much, just the materials to decorate the rocks which a lot of people will already have at home anyway.”
