A MAN has been charged with firearms and driving offences after he was arrested when a car crashed when it failed to stop for police.
Metropolitan Police officers and armed people from Essex attempted to stop the vehicle as it travelled in the county on Monday afternoon.
The car collided with another vehicle, which was being driven by a member of the public, in St Mary’s Square in Kelevdon.
The member of the public had to be cut free from their car and was taken to hospital with back injuries.
Lee Ash, 34, of Sydenham Hill, Lewisham, was charged with possession of a shotgun when prohibited, possession of a shotgun without a certificate, dangerous driving, failing to stop after a collision and driving without insurance.
He appeared at Hendon Magistrates' Court this morning and he was remanded in custody until his next appearance at Harrow Crown Court.
The date of his next court appearance is to be confirmed.
