A GANG of four men robbed a man at knifepoint.

The victim was approached by the group who were wearing hooded tops and had their faces covered while he was walking along St Peter's Street, Colchester, at 8am.

They pushed him against a fence, searched him and took his wallet containing cash and cards.

He then managed to get away.

One of the robbers was holding a knife.

The incident happened on Friday, June 23 but details have only just been released.

Essex Police want to speak to people they believe saw the attack.

Investigating officer Det Con Hannah Richardson said: "We are particularly keen to speak to a number of witnesses who were in the area at the time, this includes a group of men stood outside the Premier Inn, the driver of a white minibus who pulled up outside the Premier Inn and a security guard who was just inside Castle Park gates and stopped the victim as he ran towards him.
