A BOWLS club has been awarded funding from a socio-economic scheme.

Earlier in the year the Burnham Hillside Bowls Club applied through the Magnox Socio-Economic Scheme for assisted funding to purchase a new Pedestrian Granular Spreader for their bowling green.

The bowls club green team are a dedicated group of volunteer members who over the years have applied vast improvements to the Bowling Green.

Part of the continuous treatment is to ensure that the correct granular feed is applied at the right levels using an industrial spreader however, the spreader they had become unfit for purpose as it no longer functioned properly, so a new one had to be purchased which is why they applied to Magnox.

The Magnox Scheme provides three level of funding to support activities that benefit the social or economic life of communities.

BHBC’s applied for funding at the lower small project level and were extremely delighted to be awarded £250 towards the cost of the spreader.

Graham Pinch, the head Green Keeper, stated that the new spreader will help with the continuous care of Burnham’s Bowling Green, which is well respected by its members and many visiting clubs.
