A CARE home have been awarded a ‘Good’ rating across the board after a positive Ofsted inspection.

Forest Home care home, on Swan Street, Sible Hedingham offers long and short-term care, respite care, day care and trial visits to older people, and was inspected on June 7 for the first time since February 2015.

The care home was rated as ‘Good’ in terms of safety, effectiveness, caring, responsiveness and leadership.

During the previous inspection, concerns were raised over the stock balances for prescribed medicines did not tally with record, but the inspector found action had been taken to address this.

Although, inspectors found one medicines error during the inspection, which was reported to the registered manager who took action to remedy the error.

The report stated: “People were cared for by staff who had a good understanding of protecting people from the risk of abuse and who understood how to meet peoples care needs safely.

“Staff knew their responsibility to report any concerns and were confident that action would be taken to protect people.”

In terms of effectiveness, the inspectors found staff were regularly supervised and trained.

While in terms of leadership, staff were positive about the registered manager, and motivated to provide good quality care.

The report added: “People needs were met promptly. Both relatives and staff said that there were sufficient staff numbers to meet people’s needs and we saw staff responding to people in a timely way.”

Senior carer, Tracey Brackley, said: “We are really pleased. We have a really good group of staff here, who are committed to doing everything they can for our residents.

“We had hoped for an outstanding, but we are over the moon and will continue to push to improve.”
