AT CHRISTMAS the Iceni Academy community was devastated when cherished teacher, Siobhan Miller, died after fighting cancer aged 47.
Her love of teaching had inspired not only the children in her class but also adults and parents who knew her.
Her passion for reading sparked a plan to build a reading garden at the school, in Gloucester Avenue, Colchester, in her memory.
Her family, who attended the unveiling of the garden on Monday has also donated books to the school library.
Kent Blaxill, Perrywood Garden Centre, Poplar Nurseries, Keys Is Us and Majestic Wine also contributed donations.
Siobhan’s son, Ben, attended the opening. He said: “Mum absolutely adored teaching at Iceni Academy, it’s a truly fitting memorial to a wonderful mum and teacher.”
Her mum, Margaret, added: “My daughter was a passionate teacher and reader, and this garden is a perfect memorial.”
