A PINT-SIZED fundraiser is set to walk 12-miles for a charity which helped his beloved mum after she suffered a devastating stroke.

Ollie Vaughan, 12, is taking on the challenge after mum Tracey had a stroke in August 2015.

The incident left her with sight loss in both eyes, and now Ollie, who lives in Colchester, is determined to raise cash for the Stroke Association to try and make sure nobody goes through what his mum did.

He said: “My mum has had support from the Stroke Association, and so I wanted to do something to say a big thank you.

"Last year I held a bake sale and raised more than £1,000 for the charity, but this year I wanted to challenge myself even more!

“I want to raise as much money as possible for the Stroke Association so that no other parents have a stroke like my Mum’s.

"I think it’s very horrible and unfair.

“I have been training with my dad and managed a seven mile walk recently.

"I can’t wait until I do my 12 mile walk, and begin to plan for next year’s fundraising challenge.”

Community and events fundraising manager at the Stroke Association George Burroughs said support from people like Ollie was vital for the charity.

He said: "Ollie is truly going the extra mile for the Stroke Association by taking on this walking challenge. Without the efforts of fundraisers like Ollie, we wouldn’t be able to support the 1.2 million people across the UK who are currently living with the devastating effects of stroke, as well as their families and carers.”
