STUDENTS have been in the kitchen learning how to tantalise tastebuds and eat healthily.

Pupils from North Primary School in Colchester have been heading over to St Helena School's new food technology block for their Lets Get Cooking scheme.

Youngsters have also had the chance to bring along family members for sessions including health eating, cooking on a budget and portion control.

The scheme has been headed up by PE and health coach Lisa Eves.

She said: "It has been working really well.

"It has been good to have the chance to bring along parents and grandparents as well to come along and help.

"We have made all sorts of things including a chickpea curry with homemade flatbreads and risotto stuffed vegetables.

"The secondary school have been really good to us.

"We have been using the Year 11 time while they are on study leave and hope to be able to come back and do something similar next year.

"We also have a really good relationship with Highwoods Tesco who have donated £50 worth of ingredients."
