A LUCKY ten-year-old won £1,000 for his school after creating a winning design for a drone.
Amazon, in partnership with the UK Civil Aviation Authority, held a competition to design a drone.
Lewis Turner, a Holmwood House Preparatory School in Colchester, was crowned the winner for the east of England.
More than 1,700 students took part across the UK.
Lewis was awarded the top spot for designing the Attenborough Bird Eye drone which would help with animal conservation.
He took home a gift basket of science, technology, engineering and maths prizes as well as a cash donation of £1,000 for his school, to be spent on in-school STEM resources.
One national winner will be selected from the 12 regional finalists. They will visit the Amazon Prime Air Lab in Cambridge, where their design will be exhibited for a year.
