FRIENDS of a man fighting for his life following a tragic crash are praying for his recovery.

Kyle Collier, from Colchester, was the passenger in a car involved in a crash in Thorrington.

The driver of the car, Shane Scott, tragically died at the scene, just days after his 21st birthday.

Kyle, who turned 18 last week, suffered serious injuries and is now in an induced coma at Addenbrooke’s Hospital.

Anita Sparrow, a family friend, has set up a fundraising page to support him and his family.

Her nephew, Jordan Warburton, went to Broomgrove Junior School with Kyle and the pair have been best friends ever since.

Anita said: “Kyle is as much a part of the family as anyone, he is away with our family on holiday next year.

“We love him like he is one of our own.

“He is a good lad, he has just finished his A Levels and started a bricklaying job over the summer.

“He doesn’t deserve this.”

Gazette:

Kyle, of Magnolia Drive, had just finished an A Level Law exam at Colchester Sixth Form College and needed a lift home.

He did not know Shane very well, but as he was just passing by the 21-year-old offered to give him a lift.

Anita’s nephew Jordan, 17, was not far from Tenpenny Hill where the crash happened as he was due to meet Kyle after school.

The pair were due to go to the beach in Brightlingsea to enjoy the sunshine and celebrate Kyle finishing his exams.

After the family received the news, Jordan rushed to the scene and found Kyle being cut out of the car and airlifted to hospital.

Anita said: “Jordan said he saw the car and couldn’t believe anybody could come out of it alive.

“He and Kyle did everything together. He is genuinely a nice guy and he was fun to be around.

He works hard and he is really fun-loving.

“He and Jordan are the life and soul of everything.”

Kyle’s mum, Angela Soton, was escorted up to Addenbrooke’s by police when she got the news.

On arrival Kyle underwent more than seven hours of surgery, having to have parts of his skull removed as it was putting pressure on his brain.

Anita has set up a fundraising page which raised more than £1,000 in less than 24 hours in the hope it will support Kyle when he gets better.

She said: “He is loved so much by his family. His mum is devastated and has not left his side since it happened.

“He has also had his sisters Lauren and Amy by his side and his younger brother Dylan, and his stepdad Chris Soton and stepbrother Nathan."

“I’m amazed the page has had more than 10,000 views, we hope and pray he comes out of it and I just want him to have something for when he does.”

Jordan has even shaved his hair so he will look the same as Kyle when he wakes up.

Kyle’s cousin Lydia Folkard left the message: “Love you cuz, you’ll get through this. Everyone is there for you.”

Anita’s daughter Sophie, 14, is trying to organise a non-uniform day at the Colne Community School in Brightlingsea to raise money.

The crash happened at about 2.15pm on Tuesday.

Tributes have been paid to Shane, who was known as a happy and cheery lad.

He was a forward at Clacton Rugby Club and was a former Colne Community College student.

A 21-year-old man and 20-year- old man are both seriously injured at Addenbrooke’s Hospital.

A 15-year-old boy suffered serious injuries and remains in Colchester General Hospital.

A 35-year-old man was discharged from the same hospital with minor injuries.
