A NEW group has been launched as part of a bid to make Tendring more dementia friendly.
The Tendring Dementia Action Alliance group was launched last week at Tendring Community Voluntary Services, in Rosemary Road.
Lesley Lowden, chairman of the group, said the launch was attended by Tendring Council chairman Mark Platt and local businesses that have shown an interest in promoting dementia awareness.
Mrs Lowden said: “Our thanks go to those who attended to make this event a success and in particular to the Co-op who donated funds for the refreshments.
“The aim of the alliance is to bring businesses together to make Tendring a dementia friendly community, which is part of a Government initiative to improve the experiences people with dementia have with their daily lives.”
There are currently more than 3,000 people living with dementia in Tendring.
Mrs Lowden added: “Tendring Dementia Action Alliance works to improve the awareness of dementia in our community.
“Dementia Friends information sessions are being offered free of charge to businesses, community groups, faith groups, health providers and schools and colleges.”
Anyone who would like to join the group, free of charge, should contact Mrs Lowden at the Alzheimer’s Society at Imperial House, in Rosemary Road, Clacton.
