RESIDENTS have one last chance to have their say on where thousands of homes are built in the future.

As part of Braintree Council’s Local Plan, an annual average of 716 homes has been set as a target for the plan period up to 2033.

The draft plan has already seen two rounds of public consultation, with more than 3,000 comments being received last summer. On Monday, council members met to discuss the draft and make necessary amendments.

One change was councillor John Elliott’s suggestion to remove a site at London Road in Kelvedon, set for 265 homes, and replace it with land at Monks Farm in the village, which was originally seen as the appropriate site for 250 homes.

The council made a U-turn in April, but it was decided on Monday Monks Farm was the most sustainable site.

Other large scale plots include land east of Great Notley for 2,000 homes, land at Broad Road, Braintree, for 1,000 homes, 600 homes at the former Towerlands Park site, 1,000 homes in Feering and 450 homes at Wood End Farm in Witham.
