HUNDREDS of protestors flooded the streets of Colchester to rally against cuts to the NHS.

The march, led by Colchester People's Assembly, followed similar protests in Chelmsford and Southend.

Starting by St Botolph's Priory, a steady stream of around 800 protestors waving banners and holding signs in support of the NHS wound its way through St John's Street, Head Street and down the High Street.

Chants of "no ifs, no buts, no NHS cuts" were shouted throughout the crowd, as the colourful procession finished outside Firstsite gallery.

Protestor Sally Theobald, of Harwich Road, Colchester said: "I am pleased to see so many people here.
"This is an issue that affects every single one of us.

"The NHS is what brought you into the world and it is what nurses us out of it.

"We must protect it."
