A MAN from Essex was airlifted to Addenbrooke's Hospital after sustaining multiple breaks to his leg in a crash on the A12.

A green Volkswagen Golf and a black Ford Kuga crashed on the southbound A12 at Washbrook yesterday at about 5.35pm.

The man was airlifted to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge in a serious but stable condition.

A woman, also from Essex, who was in the Kuga, received injuries to her wrists and ankles and was taken to Ipswich Hospital.

Diversions were put in place, with the northbound carriageway fully re-opening just after 7pm, and the southbound carriageway at about 11pm.

Police are appealing for witnesses.
