A MINUTE'S silence will replace a church election hustings in light of the Manchester tragedy.
The hustings event planned for tonight has been cancelled as political parties suspend their campaign activities.
Liz Bird, of Colchester Churches, said: "Instead, we plan to meet to pray - for those caught up in Manchester’s tragedy, for the nation as a whole, and for our candidates in particular.
"We will begin with a minute’s silence in memory of those affected. The candidates will be attending this evening, but it will not be a night for campaigning.
The doors of St Botolph’s Church, in St Botolph's Street, will open at 7pm, ready for 7.30pm start.
