COLCHESTER’S very own Hollywood film composer, Jason Frederick is back at the town’s arts centre this time presenting a classic horror movie.

The inspiration for this weekend screening came out of Jason's night of horror music at the end of last year in which he talked about the musical history of classic films such as Dracula, Psycho, The Curse of Frankenstein and Theatre of Blood.

Jason, who has composed music for films such as 28 Days and 101 Dalmatians II, is perhaps best known for his Mods and Coppers concerts which have packed out the Church Street venue with their mix of film music with a big band sound.

The Canadian born musician and composer started his musical career as a member of an indie rock band who got signed to a major record label but when they broke up 18 months later he decided to try his hand at television and film composing.

This Friday sees the first in a short season of vintage horror classics presented by Jason, Dracula AD 1972, which featured in his original music night.

Others include Theatre of Blood on June 29 and a double bill of Satanic Rites of Dracula and The Abominable Dr Phibes on July 13.

With Mick The Hippy''s legendary chilli on sale, entry is pay what you can afford. Doors open at 7.30pm with the film starting at 8pm.
