RESIDENTS of Colchester got quite the shock last night when an incredibly loud plane flew low over houses.
Many took to social media to post about the huge plane which dipped down over the rooftops at around 8pm.
As the plane was flying so low, some worried the plane was in difficulty.
@TheGazette anyone know anything about a big plane that flew in the direction of town from the north of town really low. I mean really low.

We put a call in to Colchester Garrison and here's what they said.
The plane was a Royal Air Force A400M transport aircraft practising low flying while on a routine flight taking it over Colchester.
An MOD spokesperson said: “In order to ensure military aircrews remain competent and safe to conduct their duties, we must regularly practice low flying.
“However, due to the limited amount of open space with no residential areas in the UK this activity will sometimes require flying near to towns, villages and residential properties.
“Military flying is governed by strict regulations and all aircrew make every effort to limit the impact of flying training and operations on the public.”
