DETAILED plans have been submitted for almost 100 homes on greenfield land in Mistley.
Tendring Farms already has outline permission to build 300 homes on land south of Long Road and to the west of Clacton Road.
Blueprints were approved last year after Tendring Council withdrew its opposition to the development.
The plans had been due to go before a planning inspector on appeal - it was feared the council would lose the case and would be hit with hefty costs.
Tendring Farms has now submitted detailed plans for 96 homes on part of the site as part of the first phase of the development.
It includes details about access to the site, its appearance, landscaping, layout and scale for the homes, as well as a 163sq metre retail space.
The development will have a range of terraced homes, detached and semi-detached homes and apartments, including 14 two-bedroom homes, 40 three-bedroom homes, 23 four-bedroom homes and six five-bedroom homes.
In a design statement, planning agents City and Country said: “The new houses have been specifically designed for Mistley and surrounding villages, drawing from the rich architectural context of the area to create contemporary homes which are rooted in the local vernacular.
“Their size and configurations vary across the site to provide visual interest and a good assortment of house types to appeal to potential residents from different backgrounds and differing stages of life.”
Martin Rayner, chairman of Mistley Parish Council, said residents have raised concerns about traffic and road safety issues.
“We have made representation in the past to the developer that the road from Clacton Road to Long Road would be a rat run and that there should be no through road,” he said.
“We are also concerned about cars at the junction between the new estate and Long Road, with turning traffic blocking the road.”
A decision is expected to be made by July 5.
