TIMELESS fictional tales are to come alive on an outdoor stage this summer.

Quantum Theatre company is returning to Frinton Greensward where they will reinvent classics Alice through the Looking Glass and Great Expectations.

Actors will grace the seafront below Connaught Avenue on Sunday, June 4, for a full day of theatre.

The whimsical Lewis Carroll story, adapted by Michael Whitmore, begins at 2.30pm.

By 7.30pm it is the turn of harrowing Charles Dickens’ play set around orphan Pip’s terrifying encounter with an escaped convict on Kent marshes.

The London-based Quantum Theatre, which tours schools with its unique style of education drama, has been a regular visitor to Frinton.

Tendring councillor Tanya Ferguson, responsible for tourism and culture, said it is all part of the council’s efforts to provide activities and productions around the area.

She said: “Quantum Theatre is a very well-established company and have proved popular with their outdoor productions on Frinton Greensward.

"It’s a chance to get out a summer chair, perhaps a rug as it might be chilly, and enjoy a picnic while watching some dramatic theatre with family and friends."
