A BUS driver has been fined after failing to identify the person driving his car when it was spotted speeding.
Adeoye Ahmed, of Turbine Road, in Colchester, appeared at Colchester Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
The charge came after his Vauxhall car was seen speeding in Sidcup, Kent, on October 15 last year.
But Ahmed said he had not been behind the wheel.
He told the court he understood at the time of the offence, the vehicle was being used by staff at a venue at which he had been attending a function to pick up other guests who were travelling into the area by public transport.
During a short hearing at Colchester Magistrates’ Court, Ahmed admitted failing to give information relating to the identification of a driver.
Magistrates fined Ahmed £285 and ordered him to pay £85 in court costs and a £30 victim surcharge.
His driving licence was also endorsed with six penalty points.
He was told he must declare the endorsement to his employer.
