A WOODLAND Easter egg hunt attracted hundreds of adventurous children.

The annual event was hosted by the Friends of Layer School on Good Friday.

Excited youngsters could hunt for clues or riddles in woodland in Layer-de-la-Haye after they were set out by a band of dedicated parents.

Georgina Slasor, one of the organisers, said: “This is the fifth year running and it started off as a smaller event and built up to now.

“About 730 children have gone through today so far.

“They go through the woods and there are riddle stations and clue stations and some are interactive.

“This year is the first year we asked the school for some help and each class came up with their own area.

“It was a competition and the winning class - year one - got a movie afternoon at school.

“They have done really well.”

Mrs Slasor described the event as “absolutely buzzing”, adding: “everyone has been coming back saying they have had a wonderful time.”

A barbecue was also on the go to feed hungry appetites.

Meanwhile in Boxted, families attended an Easter egg hunt hosted by Dedham Vale Vineyard.

As well as chocolate treats, there was live music and a barbecue, wood fired pizza and hot drinks were available.
