• A 70-YEAR-OLD learner driver has been fined for speeding along Clacton seafront.

Raymond Short was caught by a speed camera doing 37mph in a Vauxhall Astra on Marine Parade West - where the speed limit is 30mph.

Short, of Grange Court, Battison Drive, Clacton, also drove on a provisional licence and was not displaying ‘L’ plates during the incident on September 10 last year.

He did not appear before North Essex Magistrates Court and the case was proven in his absence.

Magistrates imposed a £220 fine for speeding, with a £30 victim surcharge and £90 court costs. No separate penalty was imposed for driving not in accordance with his licence.

  • A MOTORIST was caught speeding at 102mph on the M25.

Gregory Themelotis, 30, of Long Road West, Dedham, was fined £300 with £120 costs. Magistrates also added six penalty points to his licence.

  • A MAN was fined by magistrates for driving without insurance.

Paul Male, 31, of Forest Road, Colchester, was stopped by police in St Andrew’s Avenue on Saturday, October 8.

He was fined £660 with £156 in costs and charges and given six penalty points on his licence when he appeared at Colchester Magistrates’ Court.

  • A WOMAN will remain in custody after allegedly stabbing a man in his feet with a knife.

Kathleen Loveday, 25, of The Square, Loughton, is accused of causing grievous bodily harm by wounding a man without intent.

The man received severe injuries to his feet in Clacton on February 23.

No plea has been entered with a formal plea hearing scheduled for Chelmsford Crown Court in April.

  • FOUR men have appeared in court accused of drug offences.

Courtney Kirby, 25, of Queensbury Road, London, is accused of conspiring to supply crack cocaine and heroin.

Troy Henderson-Ryan, 19, of Holland Road, Clacton, Baran Or, 27, of Broad Lane, London and Alfie Lawrence Summers, 18, of Chatsworth Road, London, are accused of being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine and heroin.

They appeared together at Colchester Magistrates’ Court and all indicated they would deny the charges.

Their next court appearance will be at Chelmsford Crown Court on April 24.

All were bailed with the condition they live and sleep at their homes addresses.
