HE'S a Colchester old school entertainment legend, while she's his daughter.

That's Lucy and Addrian Hutson who are about to embark on a very personal and illuminating journey exploring their family relationship as well as their very different lives as performers.

Bi-Curious George and Other Side Kicks gets its first airing at the Colchester Arts Centre as part of the venue's Wonderful Wednesdays.

It's the first time Lucy, who has performed all over the world with her Live Art shows, has created something with her dad, who many in the town will know as Prof the Amazing Addrian, Punch and Judy man extraordinaire.

The idea came about from a time in her childhood when Lucy worked with her father as a bottler, (money collector), for Punch and Judy in the park, performing magic tricks in his shows and making balloon animals.

Lucy says: "Then my very first job after leaving drama school was working with dad dressed up as a monkey called George on the ferries between Harwich and Holland, which isn't exactly what I was aiming for when I went into drama school.

"The thing about the show is I really needed to do it before I could move on with my work. All of those experiences as well as the tensions with having two very different types of performers in the same house were like a wall stopping me from doing anything else."

Reminiscing through rose tinted spectacles and bonding over cute childhood memories, the show is a fusion of both their styles, the glib entertainer and the earnest artist.

Lucy adds: "One of the most important things which has come out of the show is that it's really important to me that my dad understands what I do. We do have similar things to deal with like remembering lines and getting sets from one place to another but in terms of what we perform, we're very different. I think this show has brought us much closer together and that can only be a good thing."

Bi-Curious George and Other Side Kicks runs at the Colchester Arts Centre on April 5 from 8pm along with Greg Wohead's Celebration, Florida.
