A COLCHESTER man has admitted taking part in a brutal attack on two men.

Lee Knight and Alex Waterman were assaulted while they were on a night out in Chelmsford High Street on August 29 2015.

Mr Knight suffered a number of injuries including a fractured eye socket, fractured nose, bruised eye, lip and nose and swelling to his head in the attack.

Mr Waterman was also injured and was treated for bruising to his forehead and nose and swelling to his eye.

Daniel Williamson, 24, of Onslow Crescent, Colchester, and Luke Saggs, 21, of Tintagel Way, Maldon, admitted charges of grievous bodily harm, actual bodily harm and violent disorder when they appeared at Chelmsford Crown Court.

The pair will be sentenced on April 10.

Two other men denied the charges.

Brothers Anis Miah, 23, and Mamun Miah, 27, both of Cross Road, Maldon, say they have been wrongly identified and claim they were at home sleeping when the attack took place.

Patrick Dennis, prosecuting, said: “Mamun Miah is the first to react.

“He grabbed Mr Knight and hurled him to the ground.

“Mamun went after him and punched him in the head a couple of times.

“Williamson and Saggs then approached him and continued the assault, causing Mr Knight to fall to the floor.

“Anis then joins, stamping repeatedly on Mr Knight’s head as he attempt to cover up and protect himself.

“Mr Waterman tried to intervene, taking hold of Anis.

“That led to the attack on him, which allowed Anis to return to Mr Knight where he once again puts the boot into him.”

Mr Dennis said the brothers fist bumped and high fived before leaving the scene.

The court also head witness statements from the two victims, neither of whom can remember much of the evening due to drinking and the attack.

Mr Knight, through his statement, described leaving The Ship pub, on Broomfield Road, Chelmsford.

He said the next thing he remembered was being treated in a first aid centre on the street.

Other than that, he said all he could remember was being led on the floor and trying to protect himself.

The trial continues.
