A MUSIC producer is on the brink of worldwide prestige if his latest venture – which features one of the biggest US rappers – hits the charts.

Jay Law and partner-in-crime Alex Imperato, both 28, have been making music together for 15 years.

Their Hip-Hop and RnB instrumentals have already landed them credits with British rappers Benny Banks and Potter Payper, but also big names like T.I and Kid Ink for track remixes.

They are set to officially welcome another on to their repertoire – DJ Khaled – whose larger-than-life persona and beats has fashioned him into one of the go-to music producers of this generation.

Khaled features on the single Messing With You alongside vocalist Angel and London rapper Young Don, who now splits his time between America and the UK.

It is earmarked to be on Young Don’s upcoming album, The Return of the Don, but how it all came about Jay said is “crazy” to say the least.

“Alex had actually sent the wrong track and it was unfinished,” he said.

“We’d sent it to Young Don directly over Twitter and he loved the track. Angel is big in the UK, he co-produced it with us and we were already fans of his so it’s pretty amazing.”

“The video is being filmed within the next few weeks.”

Jay, who lives in Clacton, has been producing for 15 years and does at least one new instrumental a day as well as emailing big names in the hope they like his work.

He welcomes US artists being “100 per cent more open” to working with Brits.

He said: “It’s so much easier now to send music to major artists and Twitter has made a big difference - it’s been a big help for us.

“I love RnB and pop, stuff like Rihanna and Justin Bieber release is what I’d like to move over to, especially as I’ve signed a new artist to my label who has more of a pop sound.

“Timbaland is my favourite producer of all time – he made me want to make music because of his work with Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado.

“It feels like now is the time when everything is coming together.”
